The corridors keep very different rhythms: Naples and Sorrento run year round and several times an hour in high season, while the ports of the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento Peninsula and the neighbouring islands only sail in the summer half of the year, some with a single run out and back per day. How to use the timetable
Each row is one concrete sailing: date, departure port, time, crossing time and operator. The port pair decides everything else, because duration and frequency differ between the corridors by a wide margin. Watch the vessel type as well: fast craft are quicker and seated only, while conventional ferries take longer, ride better and are the only ones carrying vehicles. For the way back, switch the direction in the timetable.
Year-round ferries from Naples and Sorrento
Only two corridors run continuously. From Naples the operators are Caremar, SNAV and NLG; from Sorrento six companies share the timetable, led by Alilauro Gruson. In high season both routes see several departures an hour, and in winter a much leaner but daily basic service. Details are on the Naples to Capri and Sorrento to Capri route pages.
Seasonal ferries from the Amalfi Coast
Positano, Amalfi, Salerno, Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori and Minori are spring-to-autumn ports. Alicost, NLG, Positano Jet, Grassi Junior and Cooperativa Sant'Andrea call at them, mostly with a handful of sailings a day and, at the smallest quays, often a single run out and back. The boats stop at several coastal towns on the way, which is why these crossings take considerably longer than those from within the gulf. The final sailings of the year fall between late October and mid-November, depending on the port.
Seasonal ferries from Ischia and Procida
Between the Campanian islands, Alicost, Alilauro, Capitan Morgan and Laser Capri Linee Blu run the services. On Ischia they call at Casamicciola, Lacco Ameno and Forio as well as Ischia Porto; the timetable lists that as one Ischia connection, and the crossing time depends on where you board. From Procida the boats run only until the end of September. These boats are smaller and more weather-sensitive than the gulf's scheduled ships, and they are the first to be cancelled when the wind gets up. If you want to combine two islands in a day, keep the route back via Naples in mind as a fallback.
If your chosen sailing is not running
When the timetable shows nothing for your date, the route is not operating that day, usually because the line's season has ended or that weekday is not served. Two things help: try another date, or choose another departure port. Naples and Sorrento reach the island all year, and both are within reach of the Amalfi Coast and Ischia by bus, train or ferry.

Capri is reachable all year, but not from everywhere. Between November and March, Naples and Sorrento are what remains; in spring the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento Peninsula and the island links are added and run into October or early November. Wind hits fast craft first
In heavy swell, fast craft are cancelled before conventional ferries. On the open quays of the Amalfi Coast that happens sooner than in Naples.
Check the return sailing first
On the seasonal lines the last departure is often in the early afternoon. Check it before you book the outbound leg.
Vehicles are a separate question
A bookable vehicle fare does not mean a non-resident vehicle may enter Capri.

Do ferries to Capri run every day?+
From Naples and Sorrento, yes, all year round. Every other port is seasonal, many only run between spring and October, and not on every day of the week even then. The timetable above shows what actually sails on your date.
Which routes operate in winter?+
In winter, Naples - Capri and Sorrento - Capri remain. Caremar sails both year round; the other operators concentrate on the summer half of the year. The seasonal services from the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento Peninsula and from Ischia and Procida end between late September and early November.
How binding are the sailing times and fares?+
Times come from the operators' published timetables and change between operating periods. The operator's departure time and your booking confirmation are authoritative, and the fare becomes binding at the booking step. All details are subject to change.
What happens in rough weather?+
In strong wind and swell the operator decides on each individual sailing on the day. Fast craft are cancelled first while conventional ferries often keep running, and on the open quays of Positano and Amalfi it happens sooner than in the sheltered port of Naples. Whether you are rebooked or compensated depends on the terms of your ticket.
Which Naples terminal should you use?+
It depends on the vessel: fast craft leave from Molo Beverello, conventional ferries from Calata Porta di Massa. A good fifteen minutes on foot separates them. Which pier applies to you is on your ticket and on the Naples to Capri route page.
Can you book a vehicle, and may you take it onto Capri?+
A vehicle ticket exists only on the conventional ferry from Naples. Permission to bring that vehicle onto Capri is a separate matter: the Campania region denies it to non-residents in 2026 from 30 March to 2 November and again over the turn of the year, with a few defined exemptions. Do not book a vehicle before your case is settled.
