About SNAV
SNAV, in full Società Navigazione Alta Velocità, is an operator from Naples based at the Stazione Marittima on Molo Angioino, a few steps from Molo Beverello, where its speedboats dock. The company was founded in Naples in 1958 by Carlo Rodriquez as a hydrofoil business; today it belongs to the Aponte family's MSC group. SNAV runs hydrofoils, catamarans, fast ferries and ro-ro ferries across the Mediterranean: the islands in the Bay of Naples year-round, the Aeolian Islands in season, plus long routes to Croatia, Sicily and Sardinia. On booking sites, the bay traffic sometimes appears as SNAV Aliscafi, the hydrofoil division's earlier name, the same operator.
Fleet
In the Bay of Naples, SNAV runs only speedboats: the hydrofoil Superjumbo with 284 seats, the catamarans Altair, Antares, Alcione, Aquila and Aries with 315 to 411 seats, and the single-hull fast craft Polaris, Sirius and Orion with around 650 seats, all built for 30 knots or more. They are enclosed vessels with seating, a bar and air conditioning; there's no time on deck during the crossing. None has a vehicle deck, so SNAV is a choice for foot passengers on every Capri route. The ro-pax ferry Aurelia and the vehicle-capable Virgo and Don Francesco run the long-distance lines.
Routes to Capri
SNAV runs three of this site's corridors. Naples - Capri leaves from Molo Beverello and takes around 50 minutes; together with Caremar and NLG, the corridor sees more than 20 departures a day at peak season. Sorrento - Capri from Marina Piccola, at about 25 minutes, is the shortest crossing to the island, where SNAV shares the schedule with five other operators. According to the operator, both routes run daily year-round, with a noticeably thinner timetable in winter. The third link, Castellammare di Stabia - Capri, is a seasonal route: the regional timetable lists it as a fast-craft service via Sorrento, so at around an hour it takes longer than the distance would suggest. Whether it runs on your date is shown in the timetable.
Check-in, luggage and pets
The conditions of carriage for the Bay of Naples require you to check in at the desk and collect your boarding card at the latest 30 minutes before departure, at Beverello just as in Sorrento, Castellammare or at Marina Grande on Capri. Keep an ID document ready; an officer of the boat may ask for it. Hand luggage up to 50 x 35 x 20 cm and 9 kg is included; anything beyond that needs a luggage ticket, which you buy with your booking or at check-in. Small and medium pets travel with their own ticket, a veterinary health certificate and proof of treatment against external parasites; dogs wear a muzzle and lead. SNAV doesn't carry vehicles to Capri, and visitors face Campania's vehicle ban on the island regardless.
Tickets
SNAV sells online, through its own app, and at the harbour desks; the crossings on this site can also be compared and booked via the route pages' booking links. The fare applies per leg, on top of which comes Capri's landing fee. Cancellation and rebooking are tiered: up to 90 days before departure the operator refunds the full amount, after that a declining share, and nothing within four hours of departure; rebookings up to 30 days before cost only the price difference. What the fare includes and which fees apply is on the prices page, with the binding amount shown at checkout.
