About Positano Jet

Positano Jet S.r.l. is a fast-ferry operator from Positano, based on Via del Brigantino, a few steps from the pier at Spiaggia Grande. It belongs to the circle of the Positano boat firm Lucibello, whose website also publishes the routes and conditions of carriage. According to its own account, the operator connects Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Salerno, Sorrento and Naples; its best-known route is the direct Naples - Positano sailing, while for Capri the two departures from the Amalfi Coast count. Ticket desks are in Positano at the pier at Spiaggia Grande, in Amalfi on the Lungomare dei Cavalieri, in Salerno at Molo Masuccio Salernitano, in Sorrento, in Naples at Molo Beverello, and on Capri in the speedboat terminal at Marina Grande; tickets are also sold on board every boat.

Fleet

Positano Jet runs four fast ferries: Maria Donata, Queen, Positano Jet and Hydra. The operator describes them as modern boats with an air-conditioned cabin and outside areas from which you can watch the coast during the crossing. They have no vehicle deck; which boat covers your departure is stated on the ticket.

Routes to Capri

Positano Jet reaches Capri from two harbours on the Amalfi Coast. Positano - Capri leaves from the pier at Spiaggia Grande and takes about 35 minutes, on a corridor shared in season by six operators. Amalfi - Capri is a little longer at around an hour, because the boat calls at Positano along the way. Neither harbour has a sheltered entrance, just a pier on the open coast: in a swell, departures are cancelled here more readily than in Naples or Sorrento. All boats arrive at Marina Grande, the island's only ferry harbour. The routes run in the summer half-year; which departures run on your date is in the timetable.

Check-in, luggage and pets

You must be at the pier with a valid ticket at the latest 15 minutes before departure, otherwise the operator doesn't guarantee boarding; with an online ticket you go straight to boarding. The luggage rule is more finely graded than with other operators: a bag up to 40 x 20 x 25 cm is included, a standard piece up to 50 x 40 x 20 cm must be bought as a separate luggage ticket, and anything larger or heavier than 9 kg counts as XL luggage with its own ticket. Boarding without the matching luggage ticket costs double the ticket price. Dogs, cats and small pets travel for a fee, dogs on a lead and muzzled, cats and small pets in a carrier; guide dogs travel free. Children under 14 travel only accompanied by an adult, and 14- to 18-year-olds need written parental permission. Anyone needing help boarding should register 48 hours in advance. Positano Jet doesn't carry vehicles; visitors face Campania's vehicle ban on Capri regardless.

Tickets

Tickets are available online, at the harbour desks, on board, and via the booking links on this site's route pages. On top of the fare come a booking fee and the island's landing fee; children under two travel free without a seat, up to twelve at a reduced fare, and groups of 15 or more pay less. You can change a ticket online up to two hours before departure, and within 24 hours before for a fee plus any price difference. On cancellation up to 24 hours before departure the operator keeps 20 percent, up to one hour before 50 percent, after that there's no refund; if the operator itself cancels the sailing, no deduction applies. What the fare includes is explained on the prices page; the amount shown at checkout is binding.
