About Capitan Morgan

Capitan Morgan is one of the larger private operators in the Bay of Naples, based in Naples with its operating hub on Ischia, where the main desk sits at Molo Redentore in Ischia Porto. The company was formed in 1993 from the merger of four island operators, Linee Lauro, Linee Buono, Mareviaggi and Società Calypso, was absorbed around 2003 into So.Ge.Ma. together with a competitor, and has traded as Capitan Morgan since 2004. Like Alilauro and Alicost, it's run within the Lauro Holding group. Its business is excursions: Capri, Procida, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and a round trip of Ischia, plus charters, and in summer the Linea Flegrea from Pozzuoli via Procida to Casamicciola.

Fleet

The fleet is built for day trips, not for shuttle traffic: the motor vessels Ischiamar, Ischiamar III, Freccia del Golfo and Calypso, plus the smaller La Sorrentina and Barca Azzurra. The 1989-built Ischiamar is 34.90 metres long, takes 330 passengers, and has a bar and air conditioning; according to the operator there's Wi-Fi on board and access for passengers with reduced mobility. No boat carries vehicles.

Routes to Capri

Capitan Morgan runs Capri as a day trip from Ischia's harbours: the boat picks up in the morning from Forio, Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola and Ischia Porto, sails direct to Marina Grande, leaves you at least six hours there, and brings you back in the afternoon. Crossing time depends on where you board, about an hour from Ischia Porto, around 90 minutes from Lacco Ameno, and 100 minutes from Forio. The operator sells the trip alone or with a guided minibus tour of the island. It runs on selected days between spring and autumn, not daily, and the days are in the operator's sailing calendar; the schedule can change for operational reasons. Check your date in the timetable, and bear in mind that if a sailing is cancelled there's no same-day replacement, other than the detour via Naples.

Check-in, luggage and pets

Boarding follows the time on your ticket; board at whichever Ischia harbour is closest to where you're staying. Dogs are welcome, with a pet ticket per sailing, always on a lead and muzzled, and you bring bags and a scoop; with boisterous animals or at other passengers' request, crew may close off the cabin and ask you onto the outside deck, and pets may never be left unattended. Assistance dogs travel free with access to all areas. Capitan Morgan doesn't carry vehicles; visitors face Campania's vehicle ban on Capri regardless.

Tickets

Tickets are available at the operator's desks on Ischia, online through the Lauro group's booking system, through agencies, and via the booking links on this site's route pages. The operator publishes an annual price table by departure harbour, on top of which comes the island's landing fee. What the fare includes is explained on the prices page; the amount shown at checkout is binding.
