About Alilauro

Alilauro S.p.A. is the Lauro family's speedboat operator, based at Molo Beverello in Naples, where it occupies the Volaviamare building right on the quay. Its origins lie on Ischia: in 1948 Agostino Lauro set out to connect his island with the mainland using a single boat, the Freccia del Golfo, and between the 1950s and 1970s built it into the Bay of Naples' first private fleet. His son Salvatore introduced hydrofoils and turned the crossing to the mainland into something fast and routine; today the third generation runs the company. Alilauro has since grown into a group: Lauro Holding also includes Alicost on the Amalfi Coast, Alilauro Gruson in Sorrento and Capitan Morgan on Ischia, and a shared booking system sells all four companies' boats.

Fleet

Sailing under the Alilauro name are the speedboats Acapulco, Agostino Lauro Jet, Airone Jet, Angelina Lauro Jet, Annamaria Lauro, Celestina Lauro, Città di Forio, Giove Jet, Nettuno Jet and Rosaria Lauro. They are pure passenger vessels with an enclosed cabin; they don't carry vehicles, but do carry luggage, pets, bikes and scooters within the limits of the conditions of carriage. Which boat covers your departure is decided by the operator as needed.

Routes to Capri

Alilauro's core business is the routes between Naples and Ischia. To Capri, the operator sails only from the neighbouring island: Ischia - Capri is a seasonal route with one departure in the morning and the return in the late afternoon, about an hour each way, letting you make a day trip to the island. In its timetable the operator also sells the crossing from Forio, Lacco Ameno and Casamicciola; the sailing doesn't run on some days of the week. It's a direct crossing with no change via the mainland: if it's cancelled, the alternative is the detour via Naples or Sorrento. Whether and when it runs on your date is in the timetable.

Check-in, luggage and pets

Alilauro requires you to be at the harbour at the latest 30 minutes before the scheduled departure, for security screening, ticket checks and boarding. When boarding you'll need your ticket, including in electronic form, plus an ID card or passport; you don't need to print an online ticket with a QR code. Hand luggage up to 50 x 35 x 20 cm and 9 kg is included; extra or larger pieces travel for a fee, paid at the desk or just before boarding at the boat. One pet per passenger travels on its own ticket: small or medium-sized, dogs on a lead and muzzled, with health and vaccination certificates no older than three months and shown on request. Bikes and scooters travel for a fee. Visitors face Campania's vehicle ban on Capri.
