About Laser Capri
Laser Capri S.r.l. is a motor-vessel operator from the island itself, based at Marina Grande harbour on Via Cristoforo Colombo, with its ticket desk at Molo 23. Its core business is Capri: the round-the-island tour calling at the Blue Grotto, group transfers, and the routes that bring day visitors from the mainland to the island. These routes are deliberately built for the excursion, arriving in the morning and returning in the late afternoon or early evening, and they serve harbours that otherwise have no ferry to Capri: Piano di Sorrento and Seiano on the Sorrento peninsula, Torre del Greco and Portici at the foot of Vesuvius. In summer an excursion route to the Amalfi Coast is added.
Boats
Laser Capri runs motor vessels for foot passengers, not speedboats and not ferries with a vehicle deck. The regional timetable lists the sailings as Motonave Laser; which boat covers your departure is stated on the ticket.
Routes to Capri
On Sorrento - Capri, Laser Capri is one of six operators, with several departures a day from Sorrento's harbour on Via Luigi de Maio and a crossing of about half an hour; the neighbours' speedboats run here year-round, Laser Capri's motor vessels in season. The other four routes are single sailings on a day-trip rhythm, out to the island in the morning and back in the afternoon: Piano di Sorrento - Capri from Marina di Cassano in about half an hour, Seiano - Capri from Marina d'Aequa in around an hour, plus the Vesuvius-shore route, which starts in Portici at Molo del Granatello, calls at Torre del Greco on Via Calastro, and then sails to the island, about an hour from Portici and 50 minutes from Torre del Greco. According to the regional timetable, these routes' season ends in late October. Anyone who misses a sailing has no second one that day; check the return in the timetable before booking the outbound leg.
Check-in, luggage and pets
A reserved but unpaid ticket lapses 30 minutes before departure; allow time to reach the pier, whether at Molo 23 on Capri or at the mainland's small piers, where the desk sometimes sits in an office on the street. Hand luggage up to 50 x 30 x 15 cm and 5 kg is included; anything more travels for a fee. Dogs, cats and small pets travel for a fee: dogs muzzled and on a lead, cats in a carrier, with a veterinary certificate and, for dogs, proof of rabies vaccination; they aren't allowed inside the passenger areas, except guide dogs. Laser Capri doesn't carry vehicles; visitors face Campania's vehicle ban on Capri regardless.
Tickets
Tickets are available online from the operator, at Molo 23 on Capri, at the desks of the departure towns, and via the booking links on this site's route pages. Children under two travel free without a seat, from two to twelve at the child fare. You can cancel up to 24 hours before departure at the issuing point of sale with a deduction; after that there's no refund. If a sailing is cancelled due to weather, the operator offers a replacement sailing or a refund. What the fare includes is explained on the prices page; the amount shown at checkout is binding.
Laser Capri FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Questions and answers about Laser Capri and the motor vessels to the island.
Which routes to Capri does Laser Capri run? +
Five: Sorrento - Capri with several departures a day, plus Piano di Sorrento - Capri, Seiano - Capri, Torre del Greco - Capri and Portici - Capri with one outbound and one return sailing a day each. All run in season; your date is shown in the timetable.
How long do the crossings take? +
About half an hour from Sorrento and Piano di Sorrento, around 50 minutes from Torre del Greco, about an hour from Seiano and Portici; on the Vesuvius-shore route the boat calls at Torre del Greco and Portici in turn. Times for your departure are in the timetable.
Where does Laser Capri dock on Capri? +
At Molo 23 in Marina Grande harbour, where the operator also has its office and ticket desk. From there it's a short walk to the funicular up to Capri Town.
How much luggage can I bring? +
One piece up to 50 x 30 x 15 cm and 5 kg per passenger; anything more travels for a fee. The boats are built for day-trippers, so with a large suitcase you're better off on the fast ferries from Sorrento.
Can my dog come on board? +
Yes, dogs, cats and small pets for a fee: dogs muzzled and on a lead, cats in a carrier, with a veterinary certificate and, for dogs, proof of rabies vaccination. They aren't allowed inside the passenger areas, except guide dogs.
Can I cancel a ticket? +
Up to 24 hours before departure at the issuing point of sale, with a deduction under the conditions of carriage; after that there's no refund. Children under two travel free without a seat, from two to twelve at the child fare. What makes up the price is explained on the prices page.
