About Grassi Junior
Grassi Junior is a family business from Positano, based right on the pier on Via Regina Giovanna and organised as a cooperative. According to the family's own account, the Grassis have been on the water since 1950, when grandfather Paoluccio put together the first fleet in Positano; over the generations, boat tours, charters, water taxis and mooring buoys off Positano were added. Its scheduled service is young: since 2023, Paolo Grassi has run the motor vessels Mizar and Golfo dei Poeti to connect the Amalfi Coast towns and Capri all year round.
Boats
The route is run by the motor vessels Mizar, Golfo dei Poeti and Azzurra Seconda, with an open deck and an air-conditioned cabin. They are passenger vessels with no vehicle deck; the family's gozzo boats and yachts run tours and charters, not the scheduled route.
Routes to Capri
Grassi Junior runs the coast from Salerno via Cetara, Maiori, Minori and Amalfi to Positano, and from there to Capri. For the island that means: Positano - Capri with one departure in the early afternoon and the return in the early evening, and Salerno - Capri as a combination where you sail in the morning from Molo Masuccio on Piazza della Concordia, directly opposite the station, and change onto the Capri boat in Positano. The operator calls the route year-round with a summer and a winter timetable; the regional timetable lists Capri departures between early November and mid-March only on Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets and rules
Tickets are available online, on board, and at the operator's desks, at the pier in Positano, at Molo Masuccio in Salerno, at the piers in Cetara and Maiori; on Capri you buy directly on board. Infants travel free, children, groups and residents pay less, on top of which comes the island's landing fee. Refunds are given only when the operator itself cancels the sailing; missing the boat carries no entitlement, and delays don't justify a refund. Grassi Junior doesn't publish rules on luggage or pets, so ask before booking if you're travelling with a large suitcase or a dog.
